2008
Eligibility
of Drivers
1. Each
participating driver must qualify as an “Amateur Driver.” An “Amateur Driver” is one who has never
accepted any valuable consideration by way of or in lieu of compensation for
services as a Driver. In addition, the
Driver must not have driven more than 100 drives in 2007.
2. All
Amateur/Matinee (M) Drivers must be 12 years of age or older.
3. Each
Amateur Driver must be licensed as a “Driver” by the U.S.T.A. and by the State
Racing Commission where required.
4. The
following U.S.T.A. Licenses will be acceptable:
“M” - Matinee “QF”
- Qualifying Fair
“P” - Provisional “A”
- Full
Note: Horses cannot be nominated
to the Series. Only Drivers can be nominated.
Eligibility of Horses
Participants in the
Mid-Western Amateur Driving Championship must race horses that fit the
following conditions:
Horses-Eligibility
Pacers
and Trotters
Three years old and up in
2008 that were non-winners of $20,000 in 2007 and non-winners of $6001 in
the last six (6) starts. Also eligible - claiming horses that have raced for a basic
claiming price of not more than $8000 in each of their last three (3) STARTS. Also eligible - horses with less than three
(3) lifetime starts that would otherwise fit these
conditions.
NOT ELIGIBLE: Horses that
have started for basic claiming price of $10,001 and higher in last three (3)
starts.
It
is the responsibility of the member to make certain
that the horse entered fits the conditions.
Nominated
Drivers need to obtain their own horse to drive.
Horses
do not need to be owned by the Driver.
Championship
Points: Drivers
can participate in only one division of each leg of the Series. Points will be awarded
for participation in each division as follows:
1st
Place - 50 points
2nd
Place - 25 points
3rd
Place - 15 points
4th
Place - 12 points
5th
Place - 8 points
6th
Place and up - 5 points
The
twenty (20) highest point winners will be eligible for the Series Championship
Final. In the event of a tie for 20th
place, the Driver will be selected by lot. The Series Championship Drivers will be determined by Eliminations. With two single heat Eliminations, the top
ten Drivers will be selected as follows: Drivers finishing first, second, third, fourth
and fifth in each Elimination will be eligible for the Amateur Championship
Final. In the event of a tie for fifth place the Driver with the highest point total will race in
the final. The sixth place finisher of
each heat will have his sixth place points added to his Series total
points. The Driver having the highest
point total will be selected as also eligible number one (AE-1) and the other
Driver will be selected as also eligible number two (AE-2). In the case of a tie for also eligibles,
selection will be by lot. Drivers
selected as AE-1 and AE2 shall be allowed to enter in
both Championship Final and Consolation Events.
If AE-1 and/or AE-2 are not selected for
participation in the Championship Final Event, they will be included for
selection to participate in the Consolation Event.
CONSOLATION
EVENT: Those Drivers finishing
sixth through tenth in the Elimination Events will be eligible for
participation in the Consolation Event.
Horses that race in the Eliminations, Consolation and Finals must have
made at least two starts in the Series.
Drivers that race in the Eliminations, Consolation and Finals must have
made at least two starts in the Series.
In the event that one or more of the twenty (20) highest point winner(s)
do not meet this criteria, then selection of the
highest point winner(s) shall be made from the twenty (20) highest point
winners without regard for those deemed eligible.
Race
Conditions: The
Sponsors may cancel an event if less than four (4) eligible starters
declare. The number of starters on each half mile track event will be the number of horses that can
score abreast on the first tier of the starting gate at each event location and
with no more than two (2) trailers. At
all tracks larger than one-half mile the number of starters in each event will
be no more than can score abreast on the first tier of the starting gate at
each event location. Amateur race events
may be divided and raced in divisions and each
division raced for an equal share of the total purse. Race Sponsors may seed and handicap
divisions. (Series money winnings may be used to promote fairness in race events.) Each Series event to be contested one dash at
one mile, unless Sponsors determine otherwise.
Entries: Entries
for Amateur events will be open to both Trotters and Pacers
which meet eligibility requirements of the race. Trotters and Pacers will race together. In the event enough horses of each gait are entered and divisions are required, then horses will be
seeded by gait when possible.
Disputes: In
the case of any dispute as to the interpretation of the conditions, the
decision of the Sponsors shall be final.
Rules: All
events to be raced under the rules of the U.S.T.A. and
the State Racing Commission where in effect at time of race.
